Still Waters

This is a mystery set in the archipelago of Sweden, specifically the island of Sandhamn. The main character is Inspector Thomas Andreasson, recently assigned to the violent crime unit, and formerly of the maritime police. When a body washes up on the beach of the popular tourist island, Tom is assigned to the case because everyone else is tied up or already on vacation. Being a civilized country, a month’s vacation is the norm.

This is a good mystery, the first of a series, and worth the read. I was a little put off by the author’s repetition of a number of details and her emphasis on Tom’s friend with no indication of her role in the story’s ending. When I finished reading, it made sense though. This is not a five-star, but is a good read.
